CORAL COAST FARM FACTS

Coral Coast Barramundi produces award winning saltwater barramundi. Located just north of Bowen in the tropical Whitsunday region of North Queensland, our farm is situated on the beach and is surrounded by naturally occurring wetlands, it is one of the most technologically advanced and environmentally friendly aquaculture farms in Australia.

Intelligent farming reduces the pressure on the natural environment and we are proud to be certified by the Australian Barramundi Farmers Association (ABFA) as an environmentally sustainable aquaculture fishery. We operate a HACCP approved processing facility as well as above industry best practice testing for quality control.

Unique to Coral Coast Barramundi is our grow-out raceway systems which allow greater control of the entire farming process in conjunction with a high degree of monitoring systems and automation. We have an intake pumping station located on the beach at the edge of our farm, generating a constant supply of high quality and exceptionally clean saltwater straight from the ocean. We adhere to strict compliance with the Queensland Department of Environment and Science which sets out minimum standards, maximum daily quantities, and preferred release times for pond discharges. We are committed to implementing practices which limit any harm to our surrounding environment and we of course not only meet, but also exceed industry best practise when it comes to environmental sustainability.

OUR FARM

Coral Coast Barramundi are swiftly harvested by brail net directly into an icy brine resulting in rapid chilling to the core. This process greatly minimises the accumulation of stress induced metabolites in the flesh of our fish which can affect the natural flavour and accelerate the spoiling process. Our investment in the harvesting and packaging process is another reason why our barramundi is superior in taste and quality.

We are an Australian owned company and support local contractors and businesses. At Coral Coast Barramundi, we are leaders in the Australian Barramundi Farming Industry and we strive to produce a high-quality saltwater product using smart scientific aquaculture farming practises every day of the year. Our award winning saltwater barramundi have a cleaner, firmer and sweeter flavour. It is pure, fresh and healthy from pond to market in 24 hours.
